Textile Opportunities Program
Hiring a new graduate of any college, cégep or university program? Access a generous wage subsidy program that can provide up to one-third of a candidate’s salary in the first year of work! The Textile Opportunities Program provides meaningful career-related work placements for post-secondary graduates in the textile sector – enhancing skills and increasing employment opportunities. Take advantage of: - Wage subsidies of up to $ 13,000 to help cover salary costs of each cégep, college or university graduates in his / her first year of work
- A streamlined application process, with most new requests approved within 48 hours
Eligible Candidates: - Cannot be older than 30 years
- Must be unemployed or underemployed
- Are graduates of any college, cégep or university program
- Are Canadian citizens and are legally entitled to work in Canada
- Cannot receive employment insurance (EI) benefits during placement
- Must be aware of and agree to participate in the placement program
Eligible Employers: - Agree to provide graduate with full-time, meaningful work (at least 30 hours per week) for a minimum of four months
- Provide $2 in wages for every $1 of subsidy received
- Agree to provide required documentation, including proof of wages paid and participant information
- Ensure the start-up date of any hired graduate does not precede confirmation of approval
- Develop a learning plan for candidates (with Council assistance)
