By investing in and building a culture of learning through their involvement in THRC’s Skills and Learning Sites and Portal project, Canadian textile companies are now better prepared to face future challenges. They are also better equipped to take advantage of new market opportunities and are more likely to adapt to the pace of technological and innovative change found in today’s competitive textile industry. As one individual interviewed for this case study noted, “THRC and its member companies have combined onsite learning opportunities with online learning activities to bring about a culture of change within the textile industry.”
The Skills and Learning Sites and Portal have enabled many companies to implement a cost-shared learning infrastructure and to capitalize on shared solutions. This cooperative approach to sector skills development has opened up learning opportunities that extend far beyond the scope, resources, and expertise of individual companies.
