CareerTex.ca is an innovative online gateway designed to inform young people about diverse career opportunities in textiles.

To experience this interactive textile career awareness resource centre, visit www.careertex.ca. The fully bilingual site has been targeted at secondary and post-secondary youth, as well as career advisors, teachers and industry employees themselves. The CareerTex.ca website provides information about today's textile sector and the education needed to participate in it.

Showcasing a selection of textile products and highlighting the cutting-edge technologies used throughout the industry, the site includes industry testimonials and more than 100 job profiles.

At the FuturvTex national conference in 2003, Lucie Brassard of Consoltex Inc., Montreal, Quebec - a member of the THRC Communications Committee - launched the site. She outlined a comprehensive advance marketing campaign targeting 2196 schools and all guidance counselors in these schools. At the same time, she laid out plans for future promotional activities, including the creation of an educators' guide.
