Privacy of Personal Information

The Textiles Human Resources Council (THRC) fully supports the federal privacy legislation and is committed to the protection of personal information in the course of its commercial activities.

Personally identifiable information, received by THRC through its website, will be used only for the stated purpose for which it is gathered. Forms and policies for providing such information are at appropriate locations on the sites.

Personal information is any information about an identifiable individual. However, if a person is an employee of an organization, personal information excludes the person's name in association with their business title, business address, business telephone number or other business communication information (fax, email). Personal information may also exclude information that is of public record. An individual's name need not be attached to the information in order for it to qualify as personal information.

If any part of these terms and conditions are held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts shall remain in full force and effect.

What information is collected?

To participate in learning and training opportunities, or to use a placement network for employment in the textile industry, visitors may be asked to submit résumés and application forms with personal details including name and contact information. In addition, for those who qualify, THRC memberships are available and candidates are asked for contact information. On some THRC web pages, visitors may ask questions or register to receive information. On these pages, personal contact information is requested so THRC can respond.

How is this information used?

At times, THRC may conduct on-line surveys to better understand the needs, profiles and experience of visitors. Visitors are never obligated to participate in such surveys but if they do, THRC may use the information to tailor its sites and/or their content. Any aggregated data that THRC may compile will not contain personally identifiable information.

The THRC "Textile Placement Network" requests visitors to submit their résumés. Textile employers, who are members of THRC, are able to review these résumés for potential employment. Where venues are provided for visitor communication with THRC, appropriate THRC staff or industry experts will respond using the visitor contact information provided. Any aggregated data that THRC may compile will not contain personally identifiable information.

THRC will not authorize the transfer of personally identifiable information for any other purposes unless required to do so by law including an order of any court.
