More than 150 industries use textiles to manufacture an almost endless array of products for traditional markets such as apparel, household furnishings and transportation. Textiles are also used in many life saving and leading-edge products including flame retardant suits worn by firefighters, ballistic blankets used to protect utility workers from explosives, bomb suits, artificial arteries and synthetic skin.
